TITLE

Bottle-cap mosaic

ABOUT

This mosaic was created in Kaunas on a cold autumn day, October 18, 2014, near St. Michael the Archangel (Garrison) Church. Using around 17–20 thousand collected plastic bottle caps, the circular mosaic reached a diameter of 7 meters and covered an area of 38.5 m² — setting a national record for the largest bottle-cap mosaic in Lithuania.

I designed the sketch for the project, which brought together a large group of volunteers: the coordinator Andrius Niaura, students from Ugnė Karvelis Gymnasium in Akademija, and members of the Vytautas Magnus University Environmental Studies Club.

The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about recycling and environmental responsibility through a creative and playful collective action. The process took about seven hours before cold weather forced us to stop — but the message remained clear: small acts, when combined, can create something powerful.
