ABOUT

The central idea behind this mural is contrast. An old, unattractive Soviet apartment block becomes the canvas for a complex Renaissance-style temple — filled with graceful arches, columns, and ornate details. It’s both a playful irony and a dialogue between eras and aesthetics.

The work brings forward themes of heritage, beauty, and universal human values, creating a conversation between the old and the idealized. Even for those less familiar with art history, the visual intention is clear.

It was a very complex project to deliver.

The wall was insulated before painting. The mural was created by the “Gyva Grafika” duo and funded by the Kaunas City Municipality.
