ABOUT
The initial sketch was created for a large-scale project in Šiauliai, but my proposal didn’t win the fierce competition. I couldn’t simply abandon the refined idea, so I adapted it for this location — which, interestingly, was first proposed to feature a completely different sketch with dogs.
This mural is filled with symbols of art and imagination — a canvas on an easel, musical notes, ink and quill, and many others representing creativity in all its forms.
No scaffolding or lifts were used; the entire mural was painted from ladders. Anyone who has worked on murals knows what kind of challenge that is.
One positive unexpected outcome was that a large pile of trash had been left near this building for years — an issue no one seemed able to solve. Strangely enough, after the mural appeared, the problem disappeared as well.
The Kaunas City Municipality funded the project.
