Once a proud 1930s villa, this building was illegally half-demolished in 2020. Despite court orders and fines, reconstruction has dragged on for years, leaving the structure in a state of elegant decay.

My artwork — a painting on a wooden panel installed amidst the ruins — responds to this unfinished story: a quiet reflection on the absurdity of the situation. The gnome, saying “I live here,” hangs a framed picture — something one usually does only at the very last stage of settling into a new home.
