TITLE
ABOUT
The title of this mural is the longest Lithuanian word, which means “for those who do not pick enough wood sorrels anymore.” Unlike other graffiti painters who usually shorten their nickname to three letters (e.g., ATM, KWT, 041, DZC) and spray them on walls, I chose to write a word of unusual length on the abandoned Britanika Hotel.
By placing the longest Lithuanian word in a spot visible from different parts of the city, I wanted to show that the message I’m sending is serious. Not only am I playing with the traditions of graffiti artists, but I am also drawing attention to the problem of abandoned buildings. In doing so, I am creating a Lithuanian, polysemantic local sign that offers both a commentary on the city and a personal artistic gesture.
