ABOUT
This temporary urban intervention was part of the project (Meta)Monumentai — a creative exploration of how we relate to public monuments and urban symbols. I temporarily transformed the well-known “Stumbras” sculpture in Ąžuolynas Park by wrapping it in black plastic and marking it with bold white stripes.
The process took about five hours. The action was brief, non-destructive, and intended to exist only as a visual and photographic moment — a gesture reflecting on how contemporary art can engage with the static icons of the city.
The intervention provoked mixed reactions: many passersby responded with curiosity and support, while city authorities regarded it as an unsanctioned act. Still, no harm was done to the sculpture, and the event underscored the tension between artistic freedom and urban regulation — between what is permitted and what is possible.
